Types of Decks by Material

Pressure-Treated Wood

Most common and affordable.
Requires regular maintenance (sealing/staining).

Cedar or Redwood

Naturally resistant to rot and insects.
Beautiful, but higher maintenance than composites.

Composite

Made from wood fibers and plastic.
Low-maintenance, long-lasting, available in various colors/textures.

PVC / Plastic

Fully synthetic, very low maintenance.
Resistant to moisture, mold, and insects.

Aluminum

Highly durable, slip-resistant, and low-maintenance.
More expensive and less traditional in appearance.
